  • Get Creative with Wedding Hashtags

We all know how prevalent social media is in our everyday lives, so it isn’t hard to understand why couples would want to incorporate it into their special day. A great way to do so is by creating a unique hashtag that allows a collection of images to be compiled on Instagram or Facebook, where they can be revisited at any time.

Coming up with a hashtag is a fun activity to jump right into once you get engaged! A perk of pinning down a hashtag from the beginning is that not only can your guests use it on the big day, but you can use it throughout your planning process, too! So, after your Cancun honeymoon, you can reminisce about all the fun you had picking out the perfect dress, flowers and WEDDING CAKE (you know we LOVE cake)! Sometimes being creative can be hard, though, so below are a few tips to kick-start your imagination and find the perfect hashtag for your wedding day.

Your hashtag does not have to be insanely witty; sometimes it’s easier to stick to a simpler format. So, let’s start off with some great, easily adjustable tag ideas:

If you are the creative type, then you have potentially endless possibilities of coming up with the perfect handle for your big day. Here are a few tips to get you started on your hashtag journey:

    Hello, my name is ...

Incorporating your and your partner’s names is the easiest way for your tag to stand out from every other Instagram hashtag, while making it memorable for your guests. You can use your first, last or nicknames as a foundation. Did you have a cheesy couple mashup name back in college (remember the iconic “Brangelina”)?

    Our favorite examples: #RowesToTheOccasion, #JohnCaughtKate

    1, 2, 3 ... numbers are for me.

If you’d rather not choose a quirky tag like a name mashup, adding numbers to your hashtag can make it your own and help it not get lost in the thousands of other wedding tags on Instagram. What’s your wedding date or year? There are probably a hundred #SamandSally tags on IG, but you’ll probably be the only #SamandSally919.

    Our favorite examples:, #SmithsGetHitched2020, #JackAndJill2320, #BrownWedding2019

Don’t be afraid to make a pun!

Who doesn’t love a good pun? After all, this is going to be the happiest day of your life, so why not have a hashtag that makes your guests smile? Puns, rhymes and alliterations can be a great basis for creating your and your partner’s cyber wedding album.

    Our favorite examples: #FromWongToWright, #WeAreIngrumThisTogether, #YouHadMeAtMerlot

    Extra Tips:

Capitalize the first letter of each word.

Check your hashtag on Instagram and Facebook.

Spread the word on the wedding website, social media and save the dates.
